What is the pneumatic sand spreading device of the mining electric locomotive?

The adhesion coefficient is an important factor affecting the adhesion and traction force of mining electric locomotives, and its possibility of fluctuation is very large. After using the sanding device on a clean and dry track, the adhesion coefficient may reach 0.6; but if the track is not clean and has oil and water, the adhesion coefficient may be less than 0.2. The sand spreading device is a device used to improve the adhesion coefficient of the mining electric locomotive, so as to prevent the electric locomotive from being low in traction and even slipping due to the low adhesion coefficient.

Generally, the sand spreading device is a purely mechanical device controlled by a pull ring, but on an electric locomotive that uses compressed air brakes, the sand spreading device can be modified into a pneumatic device. What are the advantages of doing so?

The advantage of doing this is mainly in the control of precision and quantity.

The purely mechanical sanding device completely relies on the driver's feeling to control the sanding. Compared with the purely mechanical sanding device, the pneumatic sanding device has a relatively uniform amount of sand each time and is easy to control. Secondly, the sand of the pure mechanical sanding device relies on gravity to enter the pipeline, which may be difficult to work when the number of sand in the sand box is insufficient, while the pneumatic sanding device uses compressed air to actively blow the sand into the pipeline.
