what is the mechanical brake method principle of a mining electric locomotive?

The braking device is designed for decelerating or stopping the mining electric locomotive during operation. so let YUTONG MINING EQUIPMENT to show whats the principle and how to realize brake while running a mining electric locomotive.

Mechanical brake method, the most common and basic used brake way, it will be installed in every different type mining electric locomotive.  Mechanical braking uses the handwheel to control the friction between the brake shoe and the wheel, and the inertial performance of the brake deceleration of the locomotive is mainly consumed on the friction between the brake shoe and the wheel. The handwheel brake shoe has the advantages of simple structure and convenient operation, but it is limited to low speed, small tonnage, and occasions where the braking effect is not high. There are often problems such as incomplete braking, poor emergency response capabilities, and serious brake shoe wear. The braking distance is 14-15 meters.

How to use the mechanical brake in a mining electric locomotive?

When the mining electric locomotive or battery locomotive or trolley locomotive wants to brake, the hand wheel is turned clockwise, the screw will push the balance beam to move, and the four brake shoes will be tightened by the two tie rods, and the wheel cannot rotate. Turn the brake handwheel counterclockwise to relieve the brake, the four brake shoes are relaxed, and the wheel can rotate.

Above all is the introduction and operation method of a mining electric locomotive mechanical brake.

Next time we will talk about on the Hydraulic method of a mining locomotive.
