Three Customized 3 Ton Underground Battery Locomotives Complete Factory Testing

2026-09-29

On September 29, 2026, HNYT completed factory testing of three customized 3 ton underground battery locomotive units for a customer’s mine rail transport system. The programme covered no-load, tractive-force and running tests at the factory in Xiangtan, China. Powered by 51.2 V 315 Ah lithium batteries and built to match the customer’s track gauge, the locomotives recorded stable tractive force above 8 kN. Functional checks were normal, and the units are now being prepared for painting.

Factory Tests and Preparation for Painting

The test programme covered both basic function checks and observation during extended running. During the no-load test, the team checked whether the locomotives’ operating functions worked normally before assessing them on the factory track. This stage helped establish that the assembled equipment was functioning as intended before the next production step.

In the tractive-force test, the recorded force remained stable above 8 kN. HNYT’s factory test summary reports this as 20% above the reference requirement used for the test. The result relates to this customized batch and its factory test conditions; it is not a statement of the train load that can be hauled on every mine route.

The running test checked operating functions and the locomotives’ condition during extended operation. The factory reported normal function across the checks. With testing completed, the three units moved to preparation for painting. Photographs show the unfinished steel bodies and protective coverings around selected components, documenting the production stage before the final paint finish.

Why This Configuration Was Selected

For this underground mining locomotive order, track compatibility was a specific requirement. The gauge was customized to match the customer’s existing mine railway, making the track arrangement part of the equipment specification from the outset. This is a practical consideration for a mine adding locomotives to an established rail system.

The 51.2 V 315 Ah lithium battery configuration has a stated full-charge time of 3–4 hours, which gives the customer a basis for planning charging around work shifts. Actual charging time depends on the charger and battery condition. IGBT speed control, electrical braking, and current and voltage monitoring form the operating package specified for this batch.

Together, the configuration details and factory checks give buyers concrete information for evaluating a battery mining locomotive. As a mine locomotive manufacturer, HNYT uses the required track gauge and operating conditions to define the configuration. Route gradients, curves and train weight should also be considered when selecting equipment for a particular mine.
